Applications
Airframe applications including ribs/ spars and structural flooring. Employed in the redesign of the shuttle launch system and for adapter rings in the Titan missile program.
Principle Design Features
A patented Aluminum- Lithium alloy with properties similar to 7075, but more dense. UNS A92090 and a variety of AMS specs cover this alloy including AMS 4346 and AMS 4251. Not an off the shelf item, Alcoa will only sell this alloy to OEM accounts. (British Alcan was also a player in this alloy for a while.) Contact Robert Graham at Alcoa for further info at 412-337-4337. He is (was) manager of Al-Li alloys.
