Nickel
Nickel 270
Annealing Procedure
Heat treat (anneal) at approximately 1500°F (816°C) followed by air cooling.
Applications
Used for components requiring extreme nickel purity, including hydrogen thyratron components, electrical resistance thermometers, fluorescent lamp components, electronic cathodes/anodes, plater bars, and passive cathodes.
Hot Workability
Hot work in the range of approximately 1300 to 1900°F (704 to 1038°C).
Other Physical Properties
Ferromagnetic with a Curie temperature of approximately 355°C (671°F); typical DC magnetic properties include a coercivity of about 3.0 oersteds and saturation induction of about 6050 Gauss.
Principle Design Features
A high-purity grade of nickel (99.9% min nickel plus cobalt) produced by powder metallurgy, exceptionally free of non-metallic inclusions. It has low base hardness and high ductility, permitting heavy cold deformation without reannealing.
Weldability
Nickel 270 can be welded using conventional welding techniques.
