Nickel
Nickel Ferro-TiC®
Corrosion Resistance
This grade is not recommended for corrosion applications.
Heat Treatability
This material can be heat treated to hardnesses in the range of Rc 68-72. For specific times and temperatures, contact Metal Supppliers Online.
Machinability
Machining is normally done in the solution annealed condition. In this state, the material can be machined by all conventional methods. General recommendations include heavy cuts utilizing slow speeds, a heavy chip load with dry, sharp tools. It is strongly recommended that cutting fluids NOT be used. Recommended tooling is a C5 Class Tungsten Carbide. For specific speeds and feeds for given operations, contact MSO.
Principle Design Features
Ferro-TiC® is a bonded titanium carbide material, produced by powder metallurgy technology. It displays a very low specific mass, 10-20% lower than steel, has 10 times the wear resistance of common tool steels and is machinable utilizing conventional procedures. Finally, the material extremely stable during heat treatment.
