Refractory Alloys Molybdenum - Titanium Alloy

Aging Procedure
Not applicable.
Annealing Procedure
Anneal in protective atmosphere at 2400 to 2600 F. Stress relief anneal at 2000 to 2200 F in protective atmosphere for one hour.
Applications
Used for aerospace applications such as heat shields.
Cold Workability
May be cold worked by conventional methods.
Corrosion Resistance
Good corrosion resistance to many acids, except hydrofluoric acid. Good in reducing atmospheres, but will oxidize in air at elevated temperatures.
Forgeability
No data.
Formability
The alloy may be bent, shaped or formed by conventional means.
Hardening Procedure
Not applicable.
Heat Treatability
Not applicable.
Hot Workability
No data.
Machinability
Machinable by conventional methods.
Principle Design Features
This is a molybdenum alloy containing 0.5% titanium.
Tempering Procedure
Not applicable.
Weldability
May be fusion or resistance welded. Note that at temperatures above 900 f the alloy will rapidly oxidize in air.
