Use in desalination applications has been limited. It has however been used in high-pressure piping, pumps and energy recovery equipment.

Principle Design Features

UNS S31254 is a 6% Molybdenum Austenitic Stainless Steel, with enhanced pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, and increased mechanical strength, for use in seawater environments, and at low temperatures. Its pitting resistance is comparable with Super Duplex.
