Steel
Steel ETD 150 (tm)
Applications
Generally employed in applications where fine machined sections could distort or warp during final hardening.
Machinability
This alloy is rated at 70% of 12L14. Due to its processing this alloy is a very consistent one in terms of speeds and feeds.
Principle Design Features
Widely known as "ETD 150" (Elevated Temperature Drawn), this alloy is basically a modified 4100H alloy steel, processed to obtain an as shipped tensile strength of 150 ksi.
Weldability
While not easily welded, moderate success has been found in most of the common methods.
